Dream Project: Transforming the Naala Corridor into a Modern Recreation & Community Zone

What was once an open, unsafe and unpleasant naala stretch between Shivaji Chowk and Huseini Baug was completely transformed through a remarkable Dream Project that blended cleanliness, beautification, and community well-being.

The entire naala was covered and structurally reinforced, eliminating foul odour, mosquito breeding, and monsoon overflow issues. This engineering upgrade alone made the surrounding residential and religious zones—including the Sacred Heart Church and Noor Masjid—much safer and more comfortable for daily visitors.

Beyond basic repair, the project introduced a state-of-the-art recreation facility built directly above the covered naala. The once-neglected stretch was redesigned into an attractive public zone featuring:

  • Landscaped gardens filled with flowering plants and shaded spots
  • Green plantations that improved the visual appeal and air quality
  • Kiosks for visitors, creating a lively social environment
  • Grass-paver parking areas that supported eco-friendly drainage
  • Spacious walkable lanes designed for families, seniors, and children

This transformation not only solved long-standing sanitation issues but opened up a fresh, beautiful space that now serves as a community hub.

By turning a problematic water channel into a multi-purpose public asset, the project demonstrated how thoughtful urban planning can shape healthier, greener and more welcoming community environments.
