A Self-Defense Training Program was organised from 19 February to 28 February 2013 as a joint initiative aimed at empowering girls and women aged 15 to 50 years. The objective of this initiative was to strengthen women’s ability to protect themselves, build confidence and respond effectively in unsafe situations.
Many women face challenging situations in daily life, and having the right mindset, awareness and physical readiness plays a crucial role in ensuring personal safety. This training program was designed to support precisely that need. The curriculum combined mental preparedness, physical techniques, safety awareness and fitness basics.
The Government of Maharashtra’s related guidelines on women’s protection and empowerment provided direction to frame this program effectively. Participants received practical, hands-on training led by certified instructors:
- Shri Bhimraj Kr. Pawar, Black Belt (7th Dan), Chief Trainer – Maharashtra Police Service
- Smt. Usha Bhimraj Pawar, Thane District Self-Defense Instructor
Together, they have trained over 50,000 women in self-defense techniques across Maharashtra.
