Self-Defense Training Program for Girls & Women

A Self-Defense Training Program was conducted from 19 February to 28 February 2013 in collaboration with Navi Mumbai Swayamsevi Samanvay Sanstha, with the objective of empowering girls and women through essential safety training, confidence-building, and physical preparedness.

The program addressed the growing need for self-protection awareness among women and young girls, especially in everyday situations of uncertainty or risk. The sessions combined mental strength training, awareness techniques, physical moves, fitness basics, and guidance on how to stay alert and safe.

Training was led by certified instructors:

  • Shri Bhimraj Kr. Pawar (Black Belt 7th Dan)
    Chief Trainer, Maharashtra Police Service
  • Smt. Usha Bhimraj Pawar, Thane District Self-Defense Instructor

Together, they have trained over 50,000 women in self-defense across Maharashtra, adding credibility and depth to the program.

Program Highlights:

  • Duration: 10 days (Daily sessions)
  • Eligibility: Girls and women aged 15 to 50 years
  • Batch Size: Maximum 50 participants per batch
  • Fees: Completely free of cost
  • Venue: Community Center, First Floor, Sector 3, Vashi

Participants learned techniques to help them stay safe in public places, at home, and during travel. The training also emphasised emotional resilience, body balance, confidence, and awareness—skills essential for personal safety.

This social initiative played a valuable role in equipping women with knowledge and practical tools to safeguard themselves, fostering a stronger and more confident community.
